What "Quick Pick" actually means
When you buy a Powerball ticket in-store and ask for a Quick Pick (or check the Quick Pick box on your playslip), the terminal generates your numbers at random instead of you marking them yourself. This tool does exactly the same thing: it draws 5 unique numbers from 1–69 for the white balls, then a separate number from 1–26 for the red Powerball, using your browser's random number generator. Multiple lines are drawn independently, so no two lines — or two numbers within a line — will repeat unfairly.
Quick Pick vs. picking your own numbers
Statistically, there is no difference: every combination of numbers has exactly the same chance of being drawn, whether a machine picked it or you did. The real advantage of Quick Pick is convenience — no birthdays to remember, no repeated "lucky" numbers, and a fresh, unbiased set every time. Many players use a mix of a few hand-picked "lucky" numbers and the rest Quick Pick — this tool works just as well for checking a full random line or for inspiration.

The odds, tier by tier
Powerball draws 5 white balls from 1–69 and one red Powerball from 1–26, giving 292,201,338 possible tickets. The published odds:

Overall odds of winning something are about 1 in 24.9 — but note that the two most common outcomes return $4 on a $2 ticket, so "winning" and "coming out ahead" are different events.
Quick Pick versus choosing your own
Every combination is equally likely, so the two methods have identical odds of winning. The real difference shows up in what a win is worth, because a jackpot is split between everyone holding that line — and self-picked numbers are not spread evenly across the range.
Players overwhelmingly favour 1–31, because birthdays and anniversaries live there, which leaves 32–69 relatively under-played. Playslip patterns and sequences are similarly crowded. A random Quick Pick draws across the full range by default, so on the rare occasions a Quick Pick line hits, it tends to have fewer co-winners than a birthday line would. That is a real effect, and it is also the only decision in this game that is actually yours.
Roughly three quarters of Powerball tickets sold are Quick Picks, and roughly three quarters of jackpot winners are Quick Picks. Those two facts match exactly as you would expect from pure chance — which is the clearest demonstration that neither method is better at winning.
Power Play and the $1 million tier
Power Play is an optional extra that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2×, 3×, 4×, 5× or 10×, with the 10× only in play when the advertised jackpot is below a set threshold. The jackpot itself is never multiplied. The one special case worth knowing: the $1 million prize for matching all five white balls is doubled to $2 million with Power Play regardless of which multiplier is drawn.
Rules, prize amounts and whether Power Play is offered vary by jurisdiction, and some states pay fixed prizes on a pari-mutuel basis instead. Check your own lottery's site before relying on any figure here.
How these lines are generated
Each line draws 5 unique numbers from 1–69, then a Powerball from 1–26 as a separate draw — so the red ball can legitimately repeat one of your white numbers, exactly as a real ticket can. Request several lines and each is generated independently, which means two lines could in principle coincide, just as two Quick Picks from a terminal could. Everything runs in your browser using its general-purpose random number generator: fine for choosing a line, not the certified hardware a lottery draw machine uses, and no claim is made otherwise.
Before you buy
The expected return on a lottery ticket is negative by design — that margin funds the prizes and the good causes. Set the amount you are spending before the draw rather than after a near miss, and do not increase it because a jackpot has rolled over; a bigger prize does not improve your odds, it just attracts more co-winners.
